
Recall that over 72 hours after the protests kicked off, the President was yet to make a speech, which raised a lot of backlash all over Nigeria.

On Friday, October 9, Muhamadu Buhari finally weighed in on the ongoing peaceful protest for the termination of the Special Anti-Robbery Squads – who, with plenty of video evidence, are notorious for harassing and often times, killing Nigerian youths.
In a speech via his official Twitter handle, President Buhari hinted that there are plans rolling in place to have the Police unit reformed.
“I am being briefed regularly on the reform efforts ongoing to end police brutality and unethical conduct, and ensure that the Police are fully accountable to the people,” the tweet read.
This, however, did not go down well with Nigerians as they called out the president on Twitter, with the hashtag “Buhari Resign”.

So many have begun unfollowing Buhari’s Twitter account as a form of protest.
