The fire was said to have spread across the entire courthouse, destroying useful items and properties.
A source who pled anonymity told reporters that the assailants who carried out the attack, came in large numbers.
The Interim Management Committee chairman of Oru-west LGA in Imo State, Hon. Willie Okolieogwo confirmed the incident while expressing his disappointment with the attackers.
He stated that he was surprised that the unknown gunmen menace was still a thing in the State, despite the efforts made so far by the Imo State government to curtail criminality.
Okolieogwo, who is also the chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, in Imo State, noted that no casualties were reported, despite the fact that the court was completely destroyed by the Gunmen.
Okolieogwo said he was confident that the Imo State governor will find a solution to insecurity in the State. “Senator Hope Uzodinma’s government is not giving up on finding a long-term to the problem of insecurity in our state. We have control of the situation,” he added.
