Spotify Removes Goya Menor’s ‘Ameno Amapiano’ Remix (Roll with the Big Boys) Over Copyright

The song, remixed by Nigerian hypeman, Bright Goya, better known by his stage name, Goya Menor and Ghanaian record producer Nektunez, samples ‘Ameno’ by French new-age musical project Era.

As it is known, to sample any form of intellectual property, it is expected that the party that owns such property be contacted and the said sample be “cleared”.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the song has been removed from Spotify due to the possibility of a copyright/licensing issue.

The Amapiano remix, which has the Gregorian chant from the original song, has become a global tune, with TikTok playing a major role in the spread.

Not many are aware that the fast-rising 26-year-old singer, an alumnus of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria originally released the track on June 16, 2021.

It was learnt that in the last six months, his management has spent a fortune trying to promote the song all to no avail.

However, in a sudden twist of events, the song began to gain momentum on social media in December 2021.

American cops have been seen vibing to the song online. People all over the world can't get enough of it. Even the Champions league used the track on its official tiktok account.
