A building housing Success Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and many other properties were burnt down after an explosion rocked the Rumukalagbo area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.
Nicolekaima's blog reports that the fire which was allegedly caused by adulterated kerosene started on Saturday night, December 4 and ravaged a makeshift settlement in the area.

According to reports, victims who suffered property loss in the fire incident are now begging the authorities for help as most of them have been rendered homeless.
A resident of the community who identified himself as Mike, told reporters that the fire started from a kitchen where a youy boy was cooking noodles on a kerosene stove, before it exploded.
He also revealed that Rivers State Fire Service responded late to the distress call and arrived at the scene, hours after the inferno had caused a lot of destruction.
He added that the fire fighters ran out of water while trying to combat the fire.
